Unsinkable to Unthinkable

Unsinkable to Unthinkable

Sunday, April 26 - 1pm

April 15, 1912. Newspapers across the globe spread the tragic news; the unsinkable Titanic, on her maiden voyage, had sunk. On that morning, the world tried to comprehend how such a fate could have claimed that modern marvel! We know the numbers: approximately 1,500 perished and 700 survived. To this day, her sinking still fascinates the masses. Join us as we tell the tales of some of the victims—and survivors—who now rest in Laurel Hill and West Laurel Hill Cemeteries.

Visit wealthy first class passenger, Charlotte Drake Cardeza, who occupied one of the most expensive suites on the ship; William Dulles, whose body was recovered from the icy waters; the Wideners, a prominent Philadelphia family, and others connected with the ship.

The tour will commence at Laurel Hill Cemetery’s Gatehouse located at 3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19132 at 1:00 pm. Visitors will first tour Laurel Hill Cemetery and then caravan in their own personal vehicles to West Laurel Hill Cemetery, about a ten-minute drive, located at 215 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd PA 19004. After touring West Laurel Hill Cemetery, visitors are welcome to join us for a reception in the West Laurel Hill Atrium, where the tour guides for both cemeteries will be available for questions. The tour and reception will last approximately 3 hours.

Ticket pricing is $40/General Admission, $38/Seniors (65 & Up), $38/Students with ID, $35/Members, $20/Youth (6-12), and $0/Child (5 & Under). Tickets can be purchased at the door or online.

Please note - youth and children must be accompanied by an adult.
