Directions to Conservatory

  • Enter Main Gate on Belmont Avenue (immediately across from softball field)
  • Once you pass the Funeral Home on your left, proceed straight through 2 sets of gates
  • After 2nd set of gates, follow the white dashed lines straight through to the Conservatory.


From Wilmington, DE & Points South

  • Take I-95 North toward CHESTER/PHILADELPHIA
  • Take the I-476 North exit toward PLYMOUTH MEETING. Travel 16.2 miles
  • Merge onto I-76 East via exit number 16A toward Philadelphia. Travel 6.5 miles
  • Take exit 338 for BELMONT AVE TOWARD GREEN LANE
  • Turn right onto BELMONT AVENUE at traffic light
  • Continue on BELMONT AVENUE through 3 traffic lights (.8 miles)
  • After passing through the third traffic light, turn left into West Laurel Hill’s main entrance

From Western Main Line & Montgomery County

  • Take I-276 WEST PA TURNPIKE
  • Use the 2nd from right lane to take exit 20 to merge onto I-476 South towards PHILADELPHIA/CHESTER
  • Keep left at the fork to stay on I-476 South
  • Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 16 to merge onto I-76 East toward PHILADELPHIA
  • From I-76 East, take exit 338 for BELMONT AVE TOWARD GREEN LANE
  • Turn right onto BELMONT AVENUE at traffic light
  • Continue on BELMONT AVENUE through 3 traffic lights (.8 miles)
  • After passing through the third traffic light, turn left into West Laurel Hill’s main entrance

From New York & Points North

  • Take the I-95 South/NJ Turnpike South
  • Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 6 for I-276 West towards PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE
  • Continue on NJ Turnpike Extension
  • Continue on I-276 West
  • Use the 2nd from the right lane to take exit 20 to merge onto I-476 South toward PHILADELPHIA/CHESTER
  • Keep left at the fork to stay on I-476 South
  • Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 16 to merge onto I-76 East toward PHILADELPHIA
  • From I-76 East, take exit 338 for BELMONT AVE TOWARD GREEN LANE
  • Turn right onto BELMONT AVENUE at traffic light
  • Continue on BELMONT AVENUE through 3 traffic lights (.8 miles)
  • After passing through the third traffic light, turn left into West Laurel Hill’s main entrance

From Center City

  • Take I-76 West from JFK Blvd and JFK Blvd Bridge
  • From JFK Blvd Bridge, use the right lane to turn slightly right onto Schuylkill Ave
  • Use the right lane to take I-76 West ramp to VALLEY FORGE
  • Keep left at the fork, follow signs for I-76 WEST/VALLEY FORGE and merge onto I-76 West
  • Follow I-76 West to US-1 SOUTH/CITY AVE in BALA CYNWYD
  • Take exit 339 for US-1 SOUTH/CITY AVE
  • Continue through the 1st light onto CITY AVE for .7 miles
  • Turn right onto BELMONT AVENUE
  • Continue on BELMONT AVENUE through 2 traffic lights (.8 miles)
  • Pass the double gates at the top of the hill and proceed to
    the main entrance at the bottom of the hill on BELMONT AVE (across from baseball field)
  • Turn right into West Laurel Hill

From Delaware County

  • Take Rte 1 N, City Ave.
  • Turn left on BELMONT AVENUE
  • Continue on BELMONT AVENUE through 2 traffic lights (.7 miles)
  • Pass the double gates at the top of the hill and proceed to the main entrance at the bottom of the hill on BELMONT AVE.
  • Turn right into West Laurel Hill
Admission

There is no cost to visit West Laurel Hill. If you would like to set up a private tour, please contact us at 215-228-8200 in advance of your visit.

The Friends of Laurel Hill & West Laurel Hill Cemeteries welcome school groups, organizations, special parties, or just friends and families who are interested in taking a personalized tour of our cemeteries.

To book a private tour, download a Private Tour Planning Guide and complete this reservation form. A confirmation email will be sent upon receipt of the reservation form.

Please note that ALL privately organized group tours and outings MUST be approved in advance by the Friends of Laurel Hill & West Laurel Hill Cemeteries, and that guided tours MUST be conducted by one of our certified Tour Guides or a staff member. External organizations and parties are forbidden from using the Cemetery for personal profit or private activities not first approved by Laurel Hill and West Laurel Hill. We are not a public or city-run park, but a nonprofit, privately-owned organization. Proceeds raised through our public and private programming directly support the preservation of Laurel Hill Cemetery as a National Historic Landmark and West Laurel Hill Cemetery as listed site on the National Register of Historic Places.

Photography/Videography

Photography and videography are permitted on Cemetery grounds for a fee and must be approved by the Cemetery one month in advance. Click here to complete a request.

  • Please read our Photography Guidelines for additional information and requirements, including a few highlights below:
    • Monuments should not be climbed, leaned against, or otherwise touched, as they can and do topple, and are more than 100 years old.
    • Groups of photographers or photography classes are required to submit a request in advance, involve a signed agreement, fee, and one month’s notice to set up an appointment time. These visitation numbers are tracked for grant-writing purposes.
    • Commercial shoots and shoots before or after gate hours are required to submit a request in advance, involve a signed agreement, fee, and one month’s notice to set up an appointment time.
    • Photographing or otherwise recording funeral ceremonies, funeral processions, or families visiting gravesites is strictly prohibited (except where the photographer is a member of the funeral party or family). All persons present on the Cemetery grounds should conduct themselves with decorum appropriate to a place of mourning, with due respect to those who might overhear them.
