LOWER MERION — Excitement is growing among cycling enthusiasts as the Mainline Greenway, which would create a safe biking route from the West Laurel Cemetery to Stoneleigh Gardens, begins to take shape.
The last two exploratory rides on the new route had around 100 people, said Rheannone Ball, co-owner of the new Mechanic Bicycle Pro Shop in Haverford (https://mechaniccycling.com). Montgomery County has new policies that encourage cycling. One is the Complete Streets policy that requires all county-funded road projects to take into consideration all the people using a road, including pedestrians and cyclists. Another is that every policy enacted has to take into consideration the health of all residents.
